Psalm 23

Sarah KimComment

God is so good. In a hard place, He used Psalm 23 to remind me that His Word is timeless, powerful, and life-saving. It's been so long since I felt my heart melt at His Word. Yesterday, I was writing up this verse as a gift of encouragement for a friend's mom. But rather than meditating on the words and thinking about what it would mean to her, I rushed (like always) and jumped into measuring my lines and cutting my paper without thought. As I began slowly writing out the words with my paintbrush, the words began to sink into my heart. God was rebuking me. At every line, I felt my eyes well up. I was embarrassed of how busy I was (for His name's sake sometimes!) rather than spend time with Jesus.

Lately I'm reminded that life can be so painfully short. This psalm feels tranquil but

I want to spend it resting in Christ, knowing that He is enough for me.

Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
    He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
    he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
    for his name’s sake.
Even though I walk
    through the darkest valley,
I will fear no evil,
    for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
    they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me
    in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
    my cup overflows.
Surely your goodness and love will follow me
    all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
    forever.
